Perle Oban Hotel Review, Scottish Highlands
The lively BAAB Grill uses local fish, meat and veg for a menu inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean (Greece, Cyprus, Turkey), with lots of small sharing plates, such as falafel, Greek salad, fried halloumi, hummous and a warming Turkish Lentil Soup, and larger dishes, such as Adana Kebab (using Scottish beef) and Scottish salmon served with a crust of panko breadcrumbs and zaatar herbs. For dessert, there's cheesecake flavoured with orange blossom and kataifi, or freekeh, fig and pistachio cake. It's fun, filling food, more upmarket gastropub than fine dining. Try to get a window seat for a view of the harbour, especially around sunset.
Breakfast is a good, fresh selection, from pastries, breads and cheeses to yogurts, cereals and juices, with full Scottish breakfast, vegetarian breakfast, omelettes and other hot dishes possible to order off the menu.
